Hit these 6 waterfront spots in the Tri-Cities before summer ends
You've only got a few weeks left of that summer sunshine. Make the most of it!
We’re sad to say there are just a few weeks left of summer!
Which means time’s a-ticking to soak up the sun and get in as much time on the Tri-Cities’ stunning patios as possible.
We’re highlighting all the places with a view of the water (and no, it’s not just going to be Rocky Point’s The Boathouse—though that definitely made the list) or water-adjacent spots to grab some grub, enjoy a cool drink, and pretend that summer never has to end.
A PoCo mainstay, The Gillnetter is a sailor’s dream pub, and boasts a bright and sunny patio on the banks of the Fraser River. Offering classic pub fare and a boisterous atmosphere, The Gillnetter makes for a great stop whether you’re hungry, thirsty, or both.
Not to mention that it is one of very few (if not the only?) pub that can be accessed straight from the river, thanks to its public dock!

So you might not have the greatest view of the river from Tinhouse's patio, but since it borders a trail that takes you right down to the water, it is close enough to make the list.
Located in Port Coquitlam's bustling Freemont Village district, Tinhouse Brewing offers delicious beer, ample space, and the perfect excuse to take a quick break from a walk/run/bike along the dike.
Where: 550 Sherling Pl. #2140, Port CoquitlamHours: Sun. to Wed.: Noon to 8pmThu.: Noon to 9pmFri., Sat.: Noon to 10pm
OK OK OK, sure, this one is not technically in the Tri-Cities—but let's be real, the Barnet Highway is basically a no-man's land between Port Moody and Burnaby so we think it's fair to mention.
Especially given that this spot is right on the beach and offers some delicious fare including fish and chips, grilled cheese sandwiches, and ice cream floats.
Where: 8181 Barnet Hwy, BurnabyHours: Fri. to Sun.: 11:30am to 6:30pm
Does anything say summer quite like a cold treat on a hot day, sitting back and gazing out at the water? The success of Rocky Point Ice Cream makes a pretty solid case for it.
What's even better is that Rocky Point Ice Cream has two (2!) locations throughout the Tri-Cities these days, with its original spot at its namesake and the other by Coquitlam's Town Centre—just a few paces away from Lafarge Lake.
Port Moody Location

Well, if we're going to include Rocky Point Ice Cream, it would be criminal not to add its delicious smelling next door neighbour to the list.
Pajo's is a mainstay for any summer trip to Rocky Point, and while you may have to take a few steps north to enjoy your meal by the water, the view is definitely worth the walk.
Just keep an eye out for any seagulls that may want to steal all that deep-fried goodness. You've been warned.

Note: The Boathouse in Port Moody closed due to a kitchen fire earlier this year, but we couldn't not include it on this list. Will update once we receive word that it has reopened.
The Boathouse’s patio likely has the best ocean view of the entire list, and for good reason—situated right beside the Rocky Point boat launch, it's the perfect spot to watch as water revelers float on out towards Vancouver.
Take a stroll to the Rocky Point Pier afterwards for an even better view of the water, or head over to the grassy field to sleep off whatever feast (and drinks) you may have had on the patio.
