Here's where to find Neapolitan-style pizza in the Tri-Cities

The king of all pizzas, arguably.

Thin, tender crust. San Marzano tomatoes. Gooey globs of Buffalo mozzarella…we know a Neapolitan-style pizza when we see one.

And boy, isn’t it a thing of beauty! While we’d gladly devour any slice of pizza that’s offered to us (as they’re all beautiful, in their own way) there’s something extra special about the pizza Napoletana. For one: it’s served as a large round pie with a thin, flat bottom and airy, voluminous crust. Second: all of the ingredients must be Italian, all the way down to the flour. And third: well, it’s delicious. You can truly taste the quality in every bite, both in the method and ingredients themselves.

Here are some spots in the Tri-Cities where you can find this gem of a pie, arguably the best and most authentic pizza there is.

This family-run restaurant in Port Moody is perfect for any occasion, spinning out irresistible Italian fare like calzones, fresh pastas and, of course, pizza. All of their pies are topped with high quality Italian ingredients; from the humble marinara to the spicy maradona, “a tribute to the god of Naples,” that shine through in every bite.

Doppio Zero, translated to “double zero”, refers to the finely milled flour this restaurant uses to make their pizza dough. The result? A perfect crust, and arguably one of Coquitlam’s best pizzas. Some notable options include their parmigiana, topped with roasted eggplant, fior di latte and parmigiano, as well as their della terra (“of the earth”) pizza with caramelized onions, pancetta and rosemary potatoes.

Famoso was born out of a trip to Naples—one bite of the pizza there, and the owners knew they had to bring that unforgettable taste back home. They did just that, and are now preparing pizzas that can transport you straight to Naples at a fraction of the price. Their casual, lively atmosphere and amazing food makes them the perfect neighbourhood pizzeria in the Tri-Cities.

With a few locations open in Vancouver and Coquitlam, La Ruota takes pride in their stone-oven baked Neapolitan pizzas which come topped with both highly traditional and new wave pizza toppings. Whether you’re looking for an authentic margherita or a pizza topped with bulgogi, all are made atop that luxurious crust.

Specializing in Northern Italian cuisine, The Golden Boot prepares all of their pastas and pizzas in house, and all are crafted by hand. Owner and chef David Azzi once emphasized that he is not in competition with fast food restaurants, or any restaurant that places quantity over quality. As a result, everything here is made with love, paying special attention to every single ingredient on your plate.
