Foodie Feature: Diana Chan (@foodologyca)

The Tri-Cities are full of great places to eat, so it’s no surprise that there are a whole bunch of folks who are highlighting the local food and drink scene.

In our Foodie Feature series, we are putting the spotlight on Instagram influencers, restaurant owners, food bloggers, and more so that our subscribers can get an intimate, in-depth look at the best that Tri-Cities cuisine has to offer.

This week’s featured foodie: Diana Chan AKA @foodologyca, the creator behind foodology.ca

What kind of content do you focus on?

Restaurants, new products in grocery stores, and a sprinkling of my adventures as a mom.

What inspired you to get started?

I was bored in university and needed a hobby to get through my dry accounting and finance courses, so I decided to start a food blog—Foodology.ca—as I ate out everyday and my friends asked me for my opinions all the time, so it made sense to write my thoughts online to share.

What has come as a surprise for you about what you do?

It will be 13 years of food blogging this year and no matter where I go or what I experience, I always keep my views honest and I just love it. In those 13 years, a lot has changed in my life, but one thing is always consistent—my love of food. It hasn't gone away and I still enjoy finding new places to visit as it's endless. We are very lucky to be in Metro Vancouver.

What would you like to do more of?

Foodology is still my hobby, and I have a full-time career in the finance industry as a user experience designer as well as being a mom. I am busy up to my eyeballs, so I've had to spend less time on the food blog and cut down on reviews to make more time for Instagram. At some point, I would love to start restaurant reviews on the blog, but just not at this time.

How has your community influenced your content?

The foodie community in Vancouver is so kind and everyone is so supportive of one another. A lot of fantastic people who genuinely love food. As Instagram algorithms are always changing, I do like to see what others are doing to see how I can improve my content. Imitation is flattery, right?

Anything else you'd like to add?

My favourite Tri-cities restaurants are Jimmy's Place, Ma Now Thai, Singapore Hawker, Kulinarya, and Kimbap Cheonguk.
