If you’re a Coquitlam resident you know you don’t have to look very far to find delicious Asian cuisine. From sushi joints to Malaysian grill houses, the city is a standout for hearty, authentic dishes that are perfect to share—particularly if you’re among a big group of friends.

Here’s a list of some of our favourite, tried and true dim sum restaurants in the neighbourhood that are making all the staples we know and love.

The interior of Mei Le Bakery & Restaurant is probably the first thing that comes to mind when we think of dim sum—a formal dining hall with large round tables, rows of roasted pecking duck hanging by the kitchen window, classy yet understated—with the added bonus of a bakery. Find everything from BBQ pork buns to red bean donuts, and, of course, loads of options for dumplings, noodles and sizzling meat platters.

If you’re passing by Henderson Mall, it’s almost impossible not to notice Lee Garden’s massive glass storefront wrapping around the building. Inside, you’ll find an elegant dining room with an extensive dim sum menu featuring all kinds of rice roll, noodle, dumpling, congee and seafood variations. They also offer a separate pecking duck and king crab set menu—a great option if you’re dining with a large group of people.

This small, unsuspecting dim sum joint is a pure gem among so many others. Enter to find a humble operation that provides a truly exceptional food and service experience—dim sum is served in traditional push-carts serving all the familiar favourites. They have a generous hot pot selection as well, offering everything from curry beef brisket to egg tofu in salted fish sauce.

Located within Coquiltam Centre, Legend House specializes in Szechuan cuisine and northern Chinese style dim sum. Their most popular dishes include boiled fish in chili oil, spicy gingered beef and Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings along with many other niche, undiscovered gems like potato rolls and spicy salted tofu.
